Master Henrik S. Hunstad

The SANGROK gym has become like a second home for me. I'm very privileged to have experienced the training and the spirit of SANGROK. The way Master Chang has taught me, has given me an opportunity to learn high quality Taekwondo. SANGROK represent not only taekwondo to me, but also the best part of Korean culture. I feel honored to call Master Chang my master and friend. Anyone that wants to experience Korean culture at it's best and wishes to train the best Taekwondo, should visit the SANGROK World Taekwondo Academy. The way of Master Chang's taekwondo teaching is a blend of traditional taekwondo and Olympic taekwondo. If you are a beginner, an instructor, competitioner etc, SANGROK gym and Master Chang has something to teach everyone.

Sincerely,

Master Henrik S. Hunstad,
International Master Instructor, 6th Dan
Director of SANGROK Norway.

My soul in Seoul

After completely broken my pride attending Master Chang's "basic step" classes the last 2 summer conventions, it was time to make some dramatic change to my Taekwondo life and visit Master Chang in Seoul. It was unforgettable. In addition, the trip was something more ..... the stay with the Golgulsa monks also put permanent foot prints in my mind.

To stay at Master Chang’s Sangrok gym have many aspects, all radiated by his warm personality that slowly grabs you and makes you feel like you are on a journey in a martial arts culture that I find hard to describe. The journey in this “world? is strange, personal, fascinating, and it does something to you. The rare with a stay at Master Chang’s Sangrok gym, is that you live and train with him. He shares his home, friends and thoughts with you. There are a lot of warm humor, (self-) irony and direct voice, no shouting. You get the feeling that he is familiar with aspects of yourself you do not see yourself (Sunnim at Golgulsa temple gave some of the same feeling ? see my blog).

To my Norwegian TKD mates: If you ever choose to follow my recommendation - to spend all or part of your trip with Master Chang, remember that this is something very personal. Make sure you return energy too. Master Chang shares his home and his thoughts; so please take your share for this collective home to work smooth. Read Lonely Planet or some other travel guide so you are prepared, maybe contact Master Henrik regarding Korean etiquette and how to show respect for a TKD Master's degree before you go. Never forget that you are there as students regardless of friendship and relationships that eventually may occur.
Last call: Be good ambassadors so Norwegian martial arts enthusiasts after you get a head start due to the reputation you left behind :-)!

Kind regards,
Ketil Harehjeld
Norway :-)
